Hesse is again location for an Indian film production
Since 10th August there is the shooting for the Indian production "Ki Jana Pardes" in Frankfurt, Bad Soden and Heppenheim. Leading actresses in thit by GKS Entertainments produced movie are the Indian singer and TV host Satinder Satti and the German model and actress Claudia Ciesla, who also was one of the main actresses in "Karma", the film which had its premiere this year at Cannes Film Festival. Manpreet Gill is the director of "Ki Jana Pardes" and is supported by Swarn Azrot, a in Germany based Indian line producer.
The film is about an Indian man (Dev Joshan) who is married in India with an Indian woman (Satinder Satti). One day he has to go to Germany for working here. His wife has her own performing group in India and they make a tour. This tour also comes to Germany for a show. When his wife met him in Germany, after two years of seperation due to the distance, she recognized that her husband has another wife: He's married to a Germany woman (Claudia Ciesla) as well. Both the women had no idea of the existence of each other. Now they have to find a way to handly this new situation...
The District Administrator of Bergstrasse, Mr Matthias Wilkes tries for many years, in cooperation with Film Commission Hesse, to campaign for his region, to bring Indian film companies to Hesse for shootings. End of July he and the Hessian Minister of State, Mrs Silke Lautenschläger went to Mumbai to establish new contacts to the Indian film industry and also to campaign for Hesse as film location. The success of this visit in India can be seen in "Ki Jana Pardes", as it's the third Indian film production shot in Hesse.
In 2006 "Humraah - The Traitor" was shot in the destrict of Bergstrasse, a film in which the Indian-German actor Prashant Prabhakar had one of the leading roles. In 2007 Hesse and Bergstrasse were also the location for Himesh Reshammiya's film debut "Aap Kaa Surroor".
Mr Wilkes plans to organize the word premiere of "Ki Jana Pardes" in Heppenheim next year, when the production is finished. Producer Manpreet Gill is overwhemled by the warm welcome and all the support he gets in Germany by Mr Wilkes and the Film Commission Hesse.
